 Bio


Tony Bonanno is a professional photographer based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Tony’s specialties are the fine art market, event & assignment photography, architecture & interiors, and travel & documentary work. 

Tony grew up in Washington, DC, but soon left the city for more rural landscapes. He spent many years working in isolated and remote areas managing and protecting public lands prior to becoming a full time photographer. He has photographed extensively in the American Southwest, the Appalachians, the Northeast sea coast, as well as Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico, Central America, Australia, and Africa. Recent assignments include corporate events in Vancouver, British Columbia, Whistler, British Columbia, Aspen, CO, Maui, Hawaii, Grand Cayman Islands, Naples, FL, Laguna Beach, CA, Bahamas, Bermuda, Cabo, Mexico, Paris, Geneva, Basel (Switzerland), and Costa Rica.  Tony has served as the official photographer for Governor Bill Richardson and numerous other political figures.  He photographed the President of the United States and First Lady for Intel Corporation.  In 2005, Tony was selected as a New Mexico Heart Gallery photographer.

Recent editorial work includes The Magazine ANTIQUES, the Boston Globe, International Herald Tribune (Paris), Revolution, Red Dog Journal, Rangefinder Magazine, Horses in Art, Scuba Diving, Organic Style, Santa Fe Showcase, Santa Fe East Side, Boy's Life, Sotheby’s North by Northwest, Santa Fean Magazine, New Mexico Magazine, Photo District News, Revolution, Flight Training Magazine, Solutions - The Schott Technology Magazine, & numerous other publications.

His fine art work is targeted towards collectors and the corporate environment.  His photography has been featured in numerous galleries throughout the US and Mexico.  He was the recipient of the prestigious Leo Diehl Award at the Creative Arts Center in Chatham, Massachusetts and was the feature artist at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History (1990-91).

Tony maintains a state of the art digital imaging studio in Santa Fe. He served on the Board of Directors of the New Mexico chapter of the American Society of Media Photographers from 2002 through 2010.  He is a General Member of the Stock Artists Alliance, a Business Partner of the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, and a member of Editorial Photographers and Canon Professional Services.  Tony enjoys teaching and mentoring other photographers and is an instructor at the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops.
